Los Llanos and Merida...

We are leaving the shore to go back inland. After a night stop, we get on board of 4x4 for 7 hours to get to Los LLanos, a vast wetland full of wildlife. Although the travel is painful for some of us, it is totally worth it. Beautiful birds, otters, eagles, capybaras, anaconda, giant anteater ...

After 2 days in Los LLanos, I am now in Merida. It was a long trip as we spent 13 hours in a not very comfortable 4x4.
Merida is 1600m high in the montagne.
We are staying in an hotel. It is nice to have hot showers and proper beds.
Merida is great for outdoor sports. First, mountain bike . We've started with 12km of downhill road. After lunch, We've been to another place for more mountain biking. I enjoyed that part more as we pretty much had the road to ourself and the landscape was beautiful. The down size was that we sometime had to cycle uphill….
Later in the afternoon, I've been on a paragliding flight in tandem. It means that I had a pilot and I was the passenger. It was amazing flying in the mountain looking at the sunset. We had enough wind to land back where we took off.
On the second day, I've been canyoning. I had to wear a wetsuit cause the water is quite cold. It also protects from shocks. I also had to wear a helmet.
We then went down the river. We had 3 waterfalls that we had to abseil down (6m, 20m and 30m). We also did sliding down flat rocks and jump in water with only 1 meter space between rocks.
It was great fun!! The guides and staff looking after us are extremely friendly too...
