Peru part 2

After an amazing time in Huacachica, it is time to get on the truck again to head further south of Peru for more exciting experiences.

First and not the least, we are going to Nazca. In the morning, we embark on a small plane and fly for about 30 mins above what remains one of the biggest world mystery, the Nazca lines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_Lines

Although I thought the drawings were bigger, it was still quite spectacular to see them, along with the overall scenery of square miles of dry flat lands and mountains!

On route to Arequipa...

And here we are in Arequipa, Another very pretty colonial 2330m high! in the morning, we've been visiting Santa Catalina Monastery, a beautiful town in the town with very colorful building and "streets". I then on the night had my first guinea pig meal...

On route again! This time, we are heading to Cusco and because we are driving along mountain road, it means we have to stop for a bushcamp. But not any bushcamp as we will be camping at 3800m! Needless to say that once again, sceneries are beautiful and even if I got cold during the night, the sunrise (up at 5.30am) was really worth it!

And here we are in Cusco, another (sorry) beautiful town. Our hotel is 5 mins walk from Plaza de Armas. As we arrive early in the afternoon, I go for a quick wander. The only issue about Cusco is that it is FULL of tourist, loads of them being Americans. It is only then that I realise how lucky we've been so far as it makes the experience not quite so authentic. However, it is an experience, especially when we had dinner and a few beers in what is the highest Irish bar in the world!!

I am only spending half a day in Cusco as the next morning, I am heading for one of the highlights of the trip but that is for next time....
